This body lotion with a light texture penetrates well into the skin and has intensive moisturizing properties.
Cocoa butter soothes irritated, rough skin and creates a velvety feeling.
Shea butter Nilotica kbA is obtained from valuable nilotica shea nuts. This variety grows in East Africa and has a higher proportion of oleic (omega-9 fatty acids) and linoleic acid (omega-6 fatty acids) and a low content of saturated fatty acids. This gives this shea butter a more delicate and supple texture, which is better absorbed into the skin and smells more subtle than the West African shea butter.
Montanov TM 202 is a wonderful palm oil-free, easy to use emulsifier and is ideal for ultra-light emulsions.
Vitamin A palmitate thickens the skin and stimulates cell division.
Urea and aloe vera juice are mainly used in cosmetics because of their moisturizing properties. Urea, however, is very heat sensitive and should be incorporated in your product at a cool-down phase. Furthermore, over time it breaks down and releases ammonia, which increases the pH and, as a result, lowers the activity of the preservative and has an unpleasant scent. In order to prevent this, it is highly recommended to stabilize cosmetic products by using lactic acid and sodium lactate which is also a very good moisturizer.

Formulation procedure: | |
Stage A | In a beaker, heat all components to around 80 C, stirring continuously to ensure that the emulsifier melts properly. |
Stage B | In another beaker, heat all components to around 40 C, stirring continuously to ensure that the butters melt properly. Add the mixture to Stage A. |
Stage C | Disperse xanthan in glycerine so that the xanthan is fully dissolved in the glycerine. |
Stage D | Heat both (oil and water phases) to around 70 C. Slowly pour the water phase into the beaker containing the oil phase and whisk/stir rhythmically until the emulsion has formed (One-Pot-Method is also possible). |
Stage E | Mix all four components and ensure that the urea crystals are dissolved completely. At the cool-down stage add the mixture gradually to the emulsion and mix until homogeneity. |
Stage F | Add all components of Stage F to the emulsion and blend until homogeneity. Measure the pH of the emulsion and adjust if required (must be lower than 5.4). Transfer to a dispenser, leave to cool down and only then close the lid in order to avoid condensation. |
Some comments:
Shelf-life of the product is about three months.
Hydrosol can be replaced with any other available hydrosols or distilled water.
Essential oil can be replaced with any of your favourite fragrances or left out (in this case, do not forget to adjust your oil phase up to 100% of the final product).
THIS IS WHAT I AM CALLING “THE SWIFT SKIN CARE”: the body lotion can be also used as a light hand lotion which means that there is no need to have two different products.
